Utilizing Your Death Knight
Written by Mike Miller.

After Wrath of the Lich King Came out, it seemed like everyone was trying out WoW’s new hero class, but now that the dust has settled a little bit, most people are ignoring their level 58 Death Knights and have gone back to their old classes. If you are still playing a Death Knight, though, you’ll find that this is a class with plenty to offer you.

It’s important to remember that Death Knights can be damage dealers or great tanks while you’re working in a group setting. Regardless, if you’re returning to the Death Knight class after a ranged fighter class, you should certainly remember a few key points.

You will deal more damage from behind the enemy lines. Death Knights function better when they are behind the foes that they are fighting. When fighting from behind the mob, your Knight doesn’t have to worry about it blocking him, parrying the blow or just moving out of the way. Of course this is not possible if you are fighting alone, but does work well when you’re part of a group. This can make all the difference in a touchy situation.

You also need to keep in mind while playing a Death Knight that you always need to maintain your diseases at a high level. To Death Knights, diseases are much the same as curses to a Warlock. You’re going to do much better if you have a higher quantity. Since macros can assist you in keeping them up, think about which ones you would like to use.

Keep in mind that you still can inflict damage regarding aggro even if you happen to be specced for melee if you’re using a Death Knight. Keep this in mind if you come across a running job since you won’t want it to bring along all the mobs it happens to find as it returns!

In this instance, a Death Grip can be quite useful. Your entire party can be obliterated by a running mob, and sometimes, you might have a tank that can’t cope with caster since they aren’t in it’s line of vision. You’ll discover you are much better suited for taking aggro and holding until help shows up than a cloth wearing class since you’ll be donning a plate.

There are numerous ways you can go about playing a Death Knight if it piques your interest. You certainly need to heed some advice and tricks that will help you increase your damage output, and keep in mind that locating a helpful Death Knight guide will help you immensely.
